Exhibited: Royal Academy, 1798, No. 446 as ‘A View of the East End of Worcester Cathedral, with Edgar’s Tower’.

The pair to this watercolour – ‘A View of the West End of Worcester Cathedral’ – is in the Collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum. It was also exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1798, No. 421.

Joseph Powell’s dates are usually given as 1780-1834 but Eric E E Smith & J L Howgego give his dates as 1776-1840 in their ‘Joseph Powell and his drawings of Clapham’ of 1973.
