SAMUEL WYATT (1737-1807)
Design for a Monument
Pen and ink, 51x102cm, folded three times
Inscribed Design for Mr Alexr. Forrester’s Monument as executed in the Temple Church, signed Sam Wyatt Archt.
Alexander Forrester had a large legal practice in the Court of Chancery and was a Member of Parliament between 1758-74.
The Temple Church has confirmed that the monument no longer exists in the Church, and was probably lost in the Second World War.
The most charming thing about this drawing is the beautiful paper on which it is drawn
